The Marine Biodiversity Hub is one of six hubs funded by the National Environmental Science Program, a long-term commitment by the Australian Government to environment and climate research. Our research provides nationally consistent scientific information to support evidence-based decision making about marine species, marine protected areas, and pressures on the marine environment. The Hub is hosted by the University of Tasmania, which with is one our 10 research partners. The others are Geoscience Australia, NSW Department of Primary Industries, NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, Charles Darwin University, Australian Institute of Marine Science, CSIRO, Museums Victoria, the Integrated Marine Observing System and University of Western Australia.

Steering committee

The steering committee meets twice a year to provide an update of policy and management developments and priorities within DoEE, to approve progress against existing research plan, approve new research plan and to ensure that the Hub’s policies, plans and procedures are meeting contractual obligations and to recommend any changes to improve their effectiveness.
