This figure illustrates the spatial distribution of GRTS-based sampling locations across the Flinders Marine Park. The GRTS statistical framweork was used to provide an optimal solution to undertake "random" spatially balanced sampling while being able to make statistically meaningful inference about the quantitative distribution of habitats and species within broad shelf areas of the AMP, thus providing an important inventory role while also providing a robust baseline for future monitoring of change. Within these GRTS sampled areas, sampling was undertaken initially by multibeam sonar (to broadly map and determine habitat types, and then by towed video (to validate habitat types from the MBS, and provide a description of benthic cover) and by Baited underwater video (BRUV) to quantify the abundance of key fish species associated with the AMP.
