The Marine Biodiversity Hub is a collaborative partnership supported through funding from the Australian Government, administered by the Department of the Environment.
In December 2014, the Australian Government announced the successful organisations to lead research hubs under the $142.5 million National Environmental Science Programme (NESP). The National Environmental Science Programme will assist decision-makers to understand, manage and conserve Australia’s environment by funding world-class biodiversity and climate science.
The Marine Biodiversity Hub will research Australian oceans and marine environments, including temperate coastal water quality and marine species, with funding of $23.88 million through the University of Tasmania, led by Professor Nic Bax.
Funding has previously been provided for projects under the CERF and NERP programs.
