Description: 
Motivations to monitor extend beyond discovery and informing future management via adaptive management. Managers may seek to use monitoring to highlight threats and risks beyond their control, such as climate change, in an attempt to influence decision-makers outside their own organisation. Informed resource allocation involves trade-offs among variables and indicators under management control, and those for which there is no control or limited control. Development of a practical framework for dealing with these trade-offs is a current focus of Project B1.
