About

Background

Tyson has a background in Marine Biology. He completed his PhD at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (UTAS) on the Critically Endangered red handfish and now works as a postdoctoral research fellow in threatened species ecology at the University of Tasmania, focusing on translocation of red handfish and restoration of their habitat. His work forms part of the broader Handfish Conservation Project. His academic interests include conservation, underwater visual census, captive breeding and restoration.
