Description: 
A study published in August 2017 by Marine hub scientists (https://www.nespmarine.edu.au/document/continental-scale-hotspots-pelagic-fish-abundance-inferred-commercial-catch-records) reveals the location of pelagic fish hotspots in Western Australian waters. Many of these hotspots occur around submarine canyon systems, such as the Perth canyon. Previous Hub research (https://www.nespmarine.edu.au/document/drifting-baited-stereo-videography-novel-sampling-tool-surveying-pelagic-wildlife-offshore) used baited camera technology to provide the first images of pelagic fish and sharks communities in the area.
