Shark Bay is located some 800 kilometres north of Perth, on the westernmost point of the Australian mainland. Hub scientists and the Shark Bay Malgana Indigenous community are developing ways to help the seagrasses of Shark Bay recover from the impacts of climate change, such as large-scale dieback following a marine heatwave event in 2011.
