About

Current activities - The Deputy Director is responsible for shaping research to meet stakeholder needs (project impact), leading and managing communications, managing data and information, supporting the Director with governance of the Hub and identifying opportunities to extend the Hub's research. He is also the Hub's Knowledge broker overseeing the approach to research-user engagement and communication.

Background - Paul has 20 years experience in marine planning, management and applied marine research. He has worked with Australian Commonwealth and State governments including those in Washington State, USA. Ten years working with the Australian Government on regional and national-scale marine biodiversity conservation planning and management. Ten years spent with the Marine Biodiveristy Hub with a specific focus on research program performance management and aligning research to meet the needs of marine planners and managers, in particular the needs of the Australian Government's environment portfolio.  From 2016 he has championed the Marine Hub's appraoch to Indigneous engagement and participation in research.
