Underwater radiated noise from shipping can have short-term and long-term impacts on marine life, especially marine mammals. The Hub has brought together research, government and industry representives to discuss information needs realting to underwater noise. Proof of concept of shipping noise maps developed by the Hub for the Australia Economic Zone are helping to generate a shared understanding on a pathway forward to better understand the potential impacts of noise from human activity to marine life.
